The First Book

Is selling well according to Official Sports International. They put the book in their Christmas Flyer and just ordered another batch of books for inventory. They’re putting their finishing touches on their spring flyer, so we should be in good shape.

I recently heard from someone who purchased the book – he wrote a long, glowing review of the book and sent it to me. When I get a chance, I’ll post it.

Anna and the twins are at a park

Yep, it’s Northeastern Ohio in February and they’re at a park playing. It doesn’t hurt that it’s 60 degrees F.

PUBLISHING CONTRACT!!!

I got a contract for my book!!! I signed it last night and sent it over. The book is called Fundamentals of BlackBerry Application Development and it should be released by Addison-Wesley some time this fall.  I’m wrapping up chapter 6 right now and need to have the whole book finished by July 15th. I’ve got a lot of work in front of me.

I’m really enjoying the writing and I’m being pretty disciplined about it. It’s a lot of work (a whole bunch). With research and confirming my facts, flow and content – it’s taking me about an hour per page to write the thing. I have three people reviewing the manuscript as I finish the chapters, so I’m sure it’s going to be in great shape when I deliver the manuscript to the publisher.

Stay tuned for more information!!

Pizza Place

It had been a while since I spoke with my friend Laura. I’d had the kids and got pretty busy and we never seemed to have time to catch up. A few weeks ago I emailed her and said hello, she replied with a very nice, long message documenting everything that was going on with her.  Turns out that she’s opening a restaurant (actually, it opened yesterday). For dinner last night, we all climbed into the van and headed over to her place.

It’s a chain, pizza and ribs restaurant. We knew the kids would eat pizza so we thought it would be fun. When we arrived (it’s about 15 miles away) we found that it was not a sit down restaurant, but takeout only. We weren’t that excited about taking pizza home with us, but decided to go in anyway. Turns out that they had a couple of tables, so we caught up with Laura and Joe and ordered some food. We hung out in the restaurant waiting for the food to be ready and chatted with everyone there. It was a pretty crazy place being the first day, but the food was excellent and Laura looked great. It was so much fun to see her after all of these years.
