I’ve been pretty sick for the last couple of weeks – I’m not going to go into what’s wrong with me, but I have been pretty miserable. I’ve been sleeping a lot and when this all first started, August and Elizabeth were really cute in the way they tried to help take care of me (August especially). As I lay in bed, trying to recover I heard something happening at the bedroom door – it sounded like something trying to make its way underneath the closed door.

When I finally got out of bed, there was a wrapped package from August (he’d wrapped it weeks ago and put it under the Christmas tree). When I opened it, I found two paper plates August had decorated – here’s pictures of the plates:

I’m pretty sure the first one is of me and August together.

So, I’ve had to wear reading glasses for the last couple of years. As I’ve gotten older, they’ve just not been working very well for me lately. At the same time, August has been bugging me over and over and over again about wanting his own pair of glasses. I told him that once I got new reading glasses, that I’d give him my old ones. Well, because of the nature of AT&T’s benefits, I’m going to have to wait until next year to get in to see my eye doctor, so he was having to wait a long time. I finally decided yesterday that I just couldn’t wait anymore – so we all headed over to Sam’s Club to pick up a 4 pack of stronger reading glasses (I need 4 pair – one for the master bathroom (reading room), my travel bag, my workshop and my office).

Well, the kids couldn’t wait for me to open them and I quickly opened the package (very hard to do without breaking the glasses inside) and distributed the new ones to their hiding places. I pushed out the lenses on two old pair and gave them to the kids to wear. I think August has been wearing these lenseless glasses for a full 24 hours, Elizabeth not as much. Its my anniversary! Today (at like 7:38 PM) tonight is my 9th anniversary. Anna and I have been pinching ourselves – just stunned that its been 9 years already. Were having a great time and I’m already looking forward to a big celebration on our 10th anniversary.

We stopped by a local nursery on Sunday to pick up our yearly Christmas wreath and some poinsettias. It also happened to be the same day that Santa stopped by to have some pictures taken with the kids. Santa’s really great, he does this every year and donates any money the nursery gives him to the Salvation Army. This year they talked us into getting into the picture – here’s how we look today:
