August and I headed out to play golf yesterday. My back’s been bothering me for a long time now and was finally getting good enough that I thought I could handle it. It was of course 100 degrees F, but we went out anyway.

Well, we made it all of 5 holes. August was just too hot and way distracted…’look, a bug’ that we just couldn’t play. The funniest part for me was when he’d be lining up to take a shot and, instead of looking forward to the pin, he’d look behind him. I just couldn’t get him to pay attention to what he was doing.He did have some nice shots, hitting balls 20 or 30 yards. He’ll get better and better over time, I can’t wait to do it again.

I need to figure out what to do with the E girl. August has a set of hand me down clubs to use but Elizabeth doesn’t. I don’t know whether to buy her left or right handed clubs.

• Broke (yes, literally broke) my BlackBerry. Now I'm going to have to use my iPhone until I can get the BlackBerry fixed or replaced. Crikey. #

Well, after many (many, many) problems and delays, the walls are finally going up on my new garage/office/workshop.  Half of the wood was delivered yesterday and the framers started framing early this morning. Two walls are up and the back wall is being built in place.  They’ll have the front wall installed before lunch and may even get started on the floor joist installation. They may even have the second floor framed today.

All of us have been spending most of the morning sitting on the back porch watching the workers work away. It’s mesmerizing – I had to pull myself away several times today to go back to work.

Of course Anna and I looked at the first floor and we’re so scared about how tall this building is really going to be. There’s no getting around it, but it’s hard to look at this thing and not miss our view of the back yards.  I’ll have a great view from my office, but the back deck looses so much of its charm.

Lucy Girl

Lucy’s our big, not too bright golden. She’s not feeling very well this afternoon – she threw up earlier and wouldn’t eat her dinner (that never happened before). She’s been camping out behind my office chair as I sat on conference calls, her comfort place as it were. During my last call, she got up, walked over to the stairs and threw up her breakfast (it’s 5 PM, so it’s been in there for a while). I was on a call, so I couldn’t do anything about it so I left it there. After the call, I got up to clean up the mess only to find that it was no longer there – she’d eaten it.  Yuck. I wish I couldn’t have gotten to it in time to pick it up, I’m sure she isn’t feeling any better with the food back in her sick stomach.

See, I told you she wasn’t too bright.

• Waiting for my sister (and family) to meet me at Swallow at the Hollow for dinner. Ice cold bud in hand. #

• Another travel day, another 2 hour (so far) delay. #

• Supposed to depart in three minutes. Too bad we haven't boarded yet. At least we finally have a plane. #
• Four and a half hours standing/sitting/fidgeting at the gate is NOT helping my back. #
• Big rains and storms in charlotte. Construction crew had to scramble to cover work site. My flight out is delayed 3 hours so far. Ouch. #
